Medical Word of the Day: pulpotomies

Pulpotomy: Surgical removal of a portion of the dental pulp, usually of the coronal portion; or removal in a dental procedure of the coronal portion of the pulp of a tooth in such a manner that the pulp of the root remains intact and viable. This is usually done to avoid pulpectomy, more commonly known as root canal.
